    The following public and private housing opportunity programs are available for consumers to explore:

    Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA)) Home Loans
    Looking for a loan that's right for you? VHDA offers a variety of home loan options designed to meet the needs of Virginia's homebuyers.

    Loudoun County Homeownership Loan Programs
    Loudoun County administers several loan assistance programs for people purchasing a home in Loudoun County including down payment/closing cost assistance.

    Loudoun County Home Improvement and the Eastern Revitalization Program
    This program provides loans for low and moderate income owner occupants in Loudoun County to rehabilitate their home.  Loans range from forgivable to low fixed rates. 100% MFI and below.

    Loudoun County Homebuyer Workshop Class
    The Loudoun County Department of Family Services provides free homebuyer education workshops, "Homeownership 101," to assist potential first-time homebuyers in understanding the home-buying process.

    Tax Exemption for Revitalized Real Estate
    Within Loudoun County, three revitalization districts allow tax exemption for added value to house after repairs. For more information, contact the Loudoun County Assessor's Office at

    Tax Relief for Elderly and Disabled
    Loudoun County offers a property tax break to eligible residents who file an application and meet certain qualifying criteria. Program participants may be relieved from the payment of real property taxes on their primary dwelling and lot, up to 3 acres. Residents must be at least 65 years of age or totally and permanently disabled and have total combined income and net worth less than $72,000 and $440,000 for real property relief.  For more information, contact the Commissioner of Revenue at 703/777-0667.

    FHA 203K - Purchase Rehab. Contact your local lender.

    USDA 504 Grant.  For residents 62 or older for rural area home repairs. Must meet certain income requirements.

    Rebuilding Together (Formerly Christmas in April)
    Provides home maintenance and repair on the last Saturday in April for low income homeowners who are elderly, disabled or have children in a home.  Contact 703/771-7186 for more information. 

    Loudoun Habitat for Humanity
    Builds and rehabilitates affordable housing for low income residents in Loudoun County.  Contact 540/751-2244 for more information.
